Indie Game! : Mortal Kombat HD Remix

Some of you may remember the rumored Mortal Kombat HD Kollection from last year. All of a sudden, all of these retailers posted a picture of the boxart along with scattered release dates. It was an exciting thought having Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and  UMK3 being re-made with new digitized actors in HD. It wasn't until a few months ago that we found out that the whole thing had been cancelled(follow the link for screen shots of the cancelled product.) and all of our speculation had been pretty much in vain..

As a life-time Mortal Kombat fan, it was kinda devastating hearing that the whole thing had been cancelled. However.. A group of people from my favorite Mortal Kombat forum, TRMK, took it as more of a challenge. For the last 2 months they have been diligently working together to bring us the fabled 'kollection'. I have to say, their work is incredible :

Original shown on right side for comparisonz.

These guys work together so well too. Every bit of work they do is criticized and criticized to the point where there is absolutely no way it could be anything less than 100 percent perfect. I've been beyond impressed at everything I've seen so far. This work is only for Mortal Kombat 1 as well, I'm excited to see what Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 will bring  :

Now, as for the engine of the game, they'll be using MUGEN. Mugen is a basic fighting engine for people who want to make ridiculous fighting games with any character from any game ever. Users download or create all of the menus and characters in the game. So that part of the game is already done with. That doesn't mean that there still isn't tons of work to be done. They still have to make hit-boxes and all that other technical shit. Oh yeah, and the fact that it's on MUGEN and using the MK name and characters means that it will be completely free. They've been tenacious so far in their quest for the perfect HD Kollection and I'm beyond excited to see what the final product looks like..

Mock up of what the final product will look like.. Yes, those are the actual models that someone made on a computer, not pictures taken out of a magazine of real people. A guy who goes by the name of Bleed designed those. Amazing...

Best of luck to you all. You've gotten this far, DO NOT GIVE UP!

You can always check up on the status of this game by visiting TRMK and looking at it's respective topic. Here's a link. All of the above artwork is not owned by me and is property of the wonderful users of TRMK who designed them.
