Pumpkins of the Day

Might as well post some seasonal shit, huh? A lot of the people I follow have been posting pumpkins that they've been getting! It's INSANE some of the stuff people do with these things. Check it :

This is an Adam Jensen pumpkin.

The Only Reason To Watch MTV

So the only reason to EVER change your channel to MTV is back today in three short hours!

I'm hoping this show does well. I've been a cornholio since I was 5. Maybe even younger.  Mike Judge most definitely has made this show funny for people that.. Y'know aren't completely brain dead. But that's what scares me. Will the audience of Jersey Shore and 16 And Pregnant find this show funny? I fucking hope so. I don't know how well I'd cope with it being torn away from me again.

Here's a clip :

It looks fucking hilarious. I honestly cannot wait for them to shit on the dickheads that are in 16 And Pregnant and Jersey Shore. Among others, obviously. And I really hope they shit on Beiber and Gaga. Someone fucking needs to. In the day and age of dipshits like Gaga, and Beiber getting only praise.. We need Beavis and Butthead. Best of luck to you Mr. Judge.

Game That Never Was.. Of the day? : Resident Evil 1.5

So I've always been a big Resident Evil fan. Despite me being altogether too afraid to play through the first one when I was little, I loved the game. The monsters and the atmosphere were all original. And to this day, No game has been able to capture the creepiness of the first one. The cities of RE2 and RE3 pale in comparison to the claustrophobic corridors and hallways of the mansion in the first one. They're all very good games. But I think 2 could have been better. And at one time it was.

Resident Evil 1.5 is the 80% finished beta version of RE2. For some reason they just weren't happy with what they had and scrapped it. Why? I honestly don't know. The police station looked more realistic and it had more monsters in it! In my opinion it looks much better than what we got. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with the finished product (quite the contrary, it's one of my favorites), but there's something about this unfinished version that draws me in more.

Claire Redfield wasn't even going to make it into the game. In her place was a character named Elza Walker in a ridiculous biker's outfit.

Here's a couple minutes of gameplay from it.

I know it sounds silly, but there's still a bit of hope in me that Capcom will release this. Seeing as how they haven't done anything with zombies in some time.. It wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yes, that's actually a trailer for the game.

So another awesome trailer for Saints Row: The Third was released. It's probably the most random trailer I've seen for a game :

Best trailer of the year hands down. I really hope this game does well, because it looks like there's tons of content on top of the endless ways to play the game.

Saints Row : The Third releases November 15 for Xbox and PS3

Game Preview of the Day : Rayman Origins

As you may or may not  know I'm a big fan of local co-op games. Online multiplayer just doesn't do it for me. Anyways, Rayman Origins is looking to bring friends together with local 4 player platforming 2d action. I'm usually not into games like this (I haven't played any of the others in the series, unfortunately.), but this entry into the series looks to be a lot of fun :

One of the major appeals of this, at least imo, is the vibrant art style! It's so vivid and all of the enemies look interesting. Reminds me of the good ol' platforming days. Anyways.

Rayman Origins will be available on Ps3, 360, Wii, and the Nintendo 3ds on November 15

Ign Naomi Kyle Creepers of the Day

Here we go.. Again.

Taken from IGN Daily fix 10.26.11

Uh. Huh...
Yep.
A nerdy creeper's way of saying she looks good?
Yeah, I'm sure watching last night's daily fix over and over again in your Wal-Mart sweat pants was a real treat for the both of you.
And what was she teasing exactly?
As always.. The most pathetic for last. Yeah dude. I really hope he's being sarcastic, but it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't.

More Skyrim news

So just to add MORE to the giant absorbing game that is Skyrim : EGM recently confirmed that dragon's skeletal remains will stay behind after you slay them. I've always wanted a game that would have me remember all of my best battles. Skyrim appears to be it. Not only that, but director Todd Howard has said a few times that there is NOT a finite number of dragons to kill in the game. Now.. What this has me wondering is  : will all of the skeletons stay? Or just certain ones? Either way, the amount of detail in Skyrim has done nothing but impress since it's reveal. Not a surprise from Bethesda.

On top of that, Bethesda also released a short live action trailer for skyrim :

In case you missed it there was a GameTrailersTV episode focused around Skyrim recently as well. CLICK HERE FOR THAT SHIT

For those of you who don't know : Skyrim will be released for xbox,pc, and ps3 on 11-11-11.

Ah, and for you PC users the requirements were shown today. They are as follows :

Recommended Specs :

  • Windows7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
  • 4GB System RAM
  • 6GB free HDD space
  • DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet access for Steam activation
Minimum Specs :

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
  • 2GB System RAM
  • 6GB free HDD Space
  • Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet access for Steam activationWhew-okay. So that's all of it for today.

Coat of the day

I was browsing the Deus Ex website and stumbled upon this god damn beauty :

I don't like using words like "sexy" to describe a coat.. But damn.

So you're telling me I can have my very own Adam Jensen coat for just about $200!? Sign me the fuck up. If you're interested in purchasing this beauty of a coat or a few other Deus Ex inspired fashions (very nice jeans and a shirt) you can find them here.

Super cryptic Game Teaser of the day

So recently ...

ROCKSTAR CONFIRMED THAT THEY ARE INDEED MAKING GRAND THEFT AUTO V. Yes, I know. Huge news. I just hope it's not as.. erm.. Serious as the last one. I felt that it was kind of a huge leap from San Andreas on the maturity scale. Maybe not. I mean, I'm not saying it didn't have any immaturity, but it certainly was more serious than the previous entries.

Anyhow. They confirmed that a trailer will be released on November 2nd and they released the following picture.

Now this is a huge fantastical leap here.. But the Grove Street Ballers in GTA:San Andreas color was green.. and the primary color in this picture is green. And the "FIVE" font kinda reminds me of San Andreas. Eh, I'm probably wrong. Imo it'd be pretty awesome to have San Andreas (imo the landmark in the series next to 3. Sorry Vice City.)  re-made. Either way, I'm sure that whatever Rockstar has in store will be plenty awesome.

Ign Naomi Kyle creepers of the Day

ALRIGHT. I'm back. I had a bit of car trouble last night (flat tire if you must know). Then today I had a bit of work to do at gamestop and  yeah. Now I'm back to give you the news and shit.

We'll get the clutter out of the way with THE CREEPERS OF THE DAY. Now.. I mean, not only did these people piss me off, but so did the ignorance of a shit ton of people who do not know anything about minecraft. Mindlessly berating it for no reason. You people are the cancer of the console industry and are exactly why pc fans look down on people who primarily play console games.

Anyways. HERE THEY ARE

Yeah, that's lovely.
Convenient name is convenient
Wow, congratulations. You definitely deserve a prize. And two thumbs up? wow. Cool guys.
Oh wait.. Does he mean? OH! OH MAN THIS GUY IS CLEVER. And 28 people are fucking stupid.

In Case you haven't heard of it : The Secret World

Voldo with more teeth?

This is a new up and coming MMORPG based on hidden factions in our real world. EX : The Illuminati, The Knight's Templar, and The Dragon(? ). Anyways, it looks to be a ton of fun. Check out their website : http://www.thesecretworld.com/ . This trailer shows off the Dragon faction. It even has a nifty milkshake recipe at the end.

No bananz in that shit. Perfect.

The Secret World is in the process of a beta at the moment. It's scheduled to be released for PC : April 2012.

Indie Game! : Project Zomboid

So the other day, my good friend Gary introduced me to an indie game called Project Zomboid. And I know I know.. Another zombie game. But this one is different. Firstly, it's 2d and from a top perspective. Second, the game play is all based around survival! Survival in the facet of going and foraging for supplies and food! This game is a lot of fun and I've barely scratched the surface of what is possible in it.The basic idea is that no matter what.. You will die eventually. The game is being released in the same style that minecraft is. In that once you buy it, all updates will add on to it.This game is in very early development stages. All information about it can be found here and it can be purchased here. As soon as I can, I'll be giving these fellows my money and playing the shit out of this game.

In a very unfortunate turn of events, the creators of this wonderful game were recently robbed of their laptops with the latest version of the game. According to them, however, Project Zomboid will come back stronger than ever. I suggest you help them out by buying their god damned game! NOW! GIVE THEM ALL OF YOUR MONEY!

Classic Game of the Day : Road Rash II

In my opinion, the second entry to the Road Rash series was by far the best. Why? The god damned music. It kicks ass :

Fuck yes! Ready to punch the shit out of some bikers now?! This game was fun. Simple as that. Beat the shit out of your buddies and knock em' off of their bikes going 100+mph. You had an array of bikes, weapons, and courses. This is definitely one of the, if not the, best Sega Genesis game ever. If it were to be re-made it'd absolutely have to retain the same game play as this one. They tried to branch out for the psx edition. Remember that one? Me neither. It sucked. This though.. This is perfect :

This, in my opinion, is the definitive Genesis game.

Yep, that means you're fucked.

Game Preview of the Day : Dragon's Crown

Platforms : ps3/psVita

So this is a game quite a few of you may not have heard of or much about. In my honest opinion, it needs a whole hell of a lot more publicity! The game is called Dragon's Crown and it's a 2d brawler in the style of Golden Axe! YES! When was the last time we really had a game like this?! :

I LOVE the art style. Hell, I'm in love with the whole concept of this game. It's going to have 4player cooperative play! BLAH! This game is going to be great. Now.. I know I've bashed games for their horrifically clothed, raunchy women. But I'll give this one a pass because it looks like the game play more than makes up for their female character's lack of armor.

Dragon's Crown is due out Spring of 2012.

Ign Naomi Kyle creepers of the Day

So, the newest Daily Fix just came out. I have a fresh batch of creepers for you.

From Ign Daily Fix 10-19-11 :

Insightful...
V3rm1li0n's friend maybe?
I'm sure this'll do the trick..
I'm sure she'll respond to this well. By the way, this comment garnered at least 25 thumbs up. Gross.
90% of the comments on this video are from fucking weirdos like this and people telling them that they're fucking weirdos
Yeah. Fix him, Naomi
Yep. Here come the boobs! Hope you guys are ready, because she'll definitely show them now that CHOPERRA11 asked!

Great work to all of you. I love this. It's gonna be insanely easy to make this a daily segment! Keep on creeping!

NEW SUBJECT : Weird IGN Naomi Kyle fans.. Of the .. Days.

So I've been subscribed to IGN on youtube for some time now. On EVERY god damned Daily Fix with Naomi Kyle video there's fucking weirdos that give a bad name to the gaming community as a whole. Falling in with the stereotype that we're all basement dwellers who have never had a girlfriend before. With no offense to Naomi Kyle (she's a pretty lady. Do I actually believe she's interested in the stuff she reports.. No.) I start this segment, publicly calling out these... uhh.. People

These comments are from IGN Daily Fix 10-17-11

Really?  Who the fuck is giving these people thumbs up?
Ladie's man here. Calling a woman a "specimen". Nice.

Yeah.... Totally.
Saving the best for last here. Seriously dude? Seriously?

That's it for today. Expect a lot more from this segment. These dorks make this FAR too easy.

Game Preview of the Day : SSX Deadly Descents

I've been following this game for a while now, but this trailer impressed me the most :

This game looks insane. We need more snowboarding games. What happened? I remember when I was younger there was a SHIT load of games like this. CoolBoarders, SSX, Shaun Paulmer's Pro Snowboarder. Where did they all go?

SSX Deadly Descents is due out : January 2012

Sonic Adventures trailer of the Day

I don't know if you guys have seen this already. Either way...

Someone took the time to upgrade that shit :

I laughed my ass off at the fact that the second one sounds pretty much like a genuine Sonic plot line and trailer. What the fuck happened to Sonic? How hard is it to stick with the 2d formula that always worked?!

Classic Game of the Day : Streets of Rage 3

Mainly because of Roo(the kangaroo )

Why Streets of Rage 3? Because it's my favorite entry in the series. This is, in my opinion, the hardest one in the series. But, it also has the most colorful cast of characters. You got Zan this old man who is an android or something, and you got Roo who's a kangaroo(and pretty much featured in Tekken as Roger), and some little punk kid with a skate board named Eddie. As well as Axel and Blaze from the previous entries.

As well as this being my favorite entry in the series, it was host to quite a few upgrades. My favorite being the dash and escape maneuvers. This game plays well, and honestly feels like it has a pretty good fighting engine, especially for a brawler game. Up to 2 people can play at once and it's a shit ton of fun. Even when you "accidentally" hit and throw each other every 5 seconds.

It also featured what is most likely the most badass soundtrack in a Genesis game ever. Right next to Road Rash. Doesn't get any better than Road Rash's soundtrack.

This fellow(his name is ash) was unfortunately removed from the western versions of Streets of Rage. Which is a god damned shame, because he was supposed to be  a playable character.

Sims 3 house of the Day

So when I was in 7th grade I got my first copy of The Sims on pc. My first house? I tried making the Spencer Estate from Resident Evil. I knew the layout to the place like the back of my hand, and by the end of it all, I thought that I had done a pretty decent job. This guy (excuse me, she's a girl)though ...

Based on the psx Resident Evil. Not the gamecube REmake

Holy shit. This is insane. I'm not sure if I am dying to play The Sims or Resident Evil. Either way, good fucking job youtube user sebnemnisanci

Review of the Every Other Week - Wolfenstein

Okay, I'm not going to lie.. I didn't expect too much from this game. It was less than 20 dollars and a couple of years old. On top of all of that I hadn't heard anything about it. I was expecting to be bored with it very fast and that I'd almost instantly regret the purchase. I was wrong, and I'm very glad I gave Wolfenstein a try.

You play as U.S. special agent B.J. Blascowicz. The same protagonist from Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Your mission was to stop a German ship from launching missiles at London, but as you fight your way through the ship you come across a mysterious medallion that saves your ass. After that, you have to travel to Isenstadt and locate Nachstone crystals for the medallion. I ended up encountering much more in Isenstadt than I expected. There was weapon customization and special upgrades for your medallion. Along with a very fun game.

A-Atmosphere
G-Gameplay
G-Graphics
S-Sound

A- This game took me completely off-guard. I wasn't expecting it to be somewhat free roaming or have weapon customization or any of that shit. There's the areas like the hospital that are really creepy and have crazy fucking Nazi creations. Then Nazis patrol the city constantly and if you let yourself get spotted your in for a hell of a firefight. And if you think it's just a simple CoD-style Nazi shoot-em-up you're very mistaken. There's all kinds of weird monsters and giant armored Nazis for you to fight. This game has two distinct atmospheres. The oppressed sunny German villages (much akin to Inglorious Bastards a lot of the time.) and the twisted Nazi research compounds. I haven't even mentioned the Veil; the hidden dimension you enter when you harness the power of the medallion you found. It adds a whole new layer to the game play and environments. -8/10

G- The gameplay in this was a lot better than I would have thought. There's a decent upgrade system and the medallion's powers add even more to the gameplay. You can find secret areas and bypass enemy turrets, not to mention create a shield for yourself and slow down time to get by traps. The only problem I had with it is that the frame-rate will sometimes drop considerably when you activate the medallion's powers. The gunplay is a lot of fun too. The game has giant monsters and fast nazi wizards. It's hectic and fun. I was surprised so much by this aspect of the game. -9/10

G- This game was made with IdTech4, the same engine that Doom3 was made with. That being said, the visuals in this game are great! My favorite feature? Enemy's limbs exploding. For an engine that's 7 years old, this is beyond impressive. -8.5/10

S- The sounds are well designed. The gunshots and medallion power noises are all very cool sounding. The voices are also fairly good. B.J.'s voice in-between levels is a nice touch too .-8/10

Verdict : 8/10
This game impressed me on just about every level. I wish that I had heard more about it, because it's actually a really good WWII era shooter. If you like single-player shooters or WWII shooters, this is a very solid choice.

Next up :

Parody Trailer of the Day

So Saints Row The Third is doing what I've been desperately wanting a video game to do : Making fun of the Battlefield/ Modern Warfare 3 rivalry

This game looks like a whole lot of nonsensical fun. We need more games that don't take themselves seriously. This game reminds me a lot of the first 3 GTA games.

Most Dramatic Video of the Day

It really is perfect...

Live Action video game trailer of the day :

So Skyrim is just a month away. Yep. And I am completely god damned broke. Anyways, check this shit out :

Well, maybe I'll start LARPing if I can't afford it by next month. Sigh.

Game Preview of the Day : Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer

Okay, so this was a weird one to me. Why would this game; that always has had a single player focus, get multiplayer? wut? But, the more content the better. It'll be a nice addition to an already great franchise.
Mass Effect 3 is set for release : March 2012

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Second Game preview of the Day :

This is a bit old, so forgive me :

Max Payne 3

THIS IS BRAH-ZILLLLL

If you're anything like me, you played the shit out of the first two entries in the series. They were great games. Max Payne 2 is in my top ten list for sure. Max Payne 3 is set 8-12 years ahead of the first 2. It's nice to see that even though Remedy(the studio behind the first two) isn't involved, the game play still looks true to it's roots. Not to mention the graphics are beautiful as well. The only thing that's baffling me is the lack of night-time scenes. The other two basically were only at night. This one looks like a complete deviation from that. But whatever. We'll have to wait and see. Max Payne 3 is set to release March of 2012.

Classic Game of the Day : Tekken 2

Today's specimen : Tekken 2

Law is such a piece of shit.

I was just playing this the other day, and I have to say... It's mechanics have really held up after all of this time. It feels fluid and is still a hell of a lot of fun. There's plenty of characters and the design of everything is pretty awesome. The way the characters move always makes sense too. Not to mention the kick ass soundtrack. Tekken 2 will always be my favorite in the franchise. Odd, I know. It just holds a special place in my heart.

And look at this ending :

What the fuck was that about? How fucked up were they when they thought of that ending. It's hilarious.

Review of the Every Other Week - RAGE

"HEYYY YOU GUYSSSSS!"

This was a game I've been waiting years for. I remember being in my highschool graphic design class when I first heard about it. I saw the screen shots and was beyond impressed. Trust me when I say that I had never seen more impressive looking rocks than in those few screens. What had me confused though was the racing focus and teen-rating. Luckily those 2 things changed. And my god was it the best choice they could have made. Id has a reputation with quality. And this game is no different.

The game technically starts in the year 2029. The earth ending asteroid Apophis is on a collision course with Earth and YOU are being cryogenically frozen deep underground in a vessel called an Ark that is meant to save a chosen few who will rebuild society after everything is over. You wake up 106 years later to a violently changed planet Earth. From here on out you are on your own in this wasteland. John Goodman saves your ass, and he's the last person to ever do it. I wish I could live in the world of Rage. It's beautiful and unforgiving. I love it. Here's the review :

A-Atmosphere
G-Gameplay
G-Graphics
S-Sound

A- As soon as this game starts, you're overwhelmed with the game's atmosphere. As soon as the Ark doors open you're thrust into the wastes. About 5 seconds after that, you're attacked. It honestly scared the shit out of me. It doesn't take long to get sucked in. The environments are beautiful (despite texture pop-ins) and well designed. No two areas look the same, which is VERY common of post-apocalyptic games. All of the characters in the towns have something to say and no two look alike. It's truly something else to see. The world is vibrant, colorful, and altogether well designed. All of the enemies are frightening as well. From the savage bandit clans to the organized and tactical authority, a fire-fight in Rage always manages to get your blood pumping. The years spent fine-tuning this game really do show. A couple of things I wish they'd change however is the fact that once you're done doing with the missions involved with an area in the game, enemies don't respawn. And some you're not even allowed to traverse again(Dead City.). Despite the vastness of this game, there isn't too much to expore in it. Regardless, the tone and feeling I get from Rage far surpasses most. -9/10

G- The game play is the star of the show in Rage. It shows that Id has not lost it's touch when it comes to making a really-fucking-fun-to-play fps. When I watched all of those game play videos I thought that this game was going to be a cake walk. I was beyond wrong. The enemies are EXTREMELY intelligent. They hide from you and rush you at proper times. At no point in the game did I think to myself "Why would he think that's a good place to hide?". Which is almost always a question you have to ask yourself when you're playing an fps. More than once I was cornered and stabbed to death. It's fun and frantic. The guns and ammo add a whole new dimension to this game. In any game I don't use alternate ammo types, but in this game you have to. Not only that, but the different ammo types make the weapon feel entirely different. Seeing your enemies faces explode after firing a fatboy round right in their face is one of the most satisfying feelings. Ever. On top of the flawless fps gameplay is a racing mechanic on the scale of Twisted Metal. Which is a good thing, because you have to do a whole lot of driving. The races in between all of the action is fluid and FUN. It's really really fun. Upgrading your car adds even more to the gameplay. You'll want to have the most bad ass car on the wastes just because you have that option. On top of the fantastic single player gameplay is a co-op option. It's called Wasteland Legends. It's a series of stories that intertwine with the single player story. It plays just a bit different from single player in that it's point based and there's no free roaming. It can be a lot of fun to partner up with one of your friends and take on the many challenges. In my opinion it's a lot of fun to go back and try and beat your scores and/or friend's scores. It adds tons to the replay value. As of the time I wrote this review I had barely touched the online. It's fun, but unfortunately it's all vehicle based and there isn't any fps based games. Despite all of that it's a nice add-on to the single player's multiple difficulty settings. Which do add a lot. Nightmare mode is like a completely different game. But it's hard in a fun way and will add hours upon hours to your experience if you give it a chance. This has the best gameplay over every fps. It's fluid at a constant 60 fps no matter what is happening and it's a hell of a lot of fun -10/10

G- By now I'm sure that everyone has heard of the massive texture pop-ins that this game has in it. Yeah. It does. And it really does take away from what could be a perfect game here. Upon first emerging from the Ark it's obvious. The quarry is VERY blurry and takes a moment to snap all of the textures together. It's ugly and unsettling. It really aggravates me that they weren't able to figure out a solution to this. What makes this hurt so much more is that every area is really cool looking. All of the environments are unique and beautiful when properly working. But I suppose on the hardware of this generation's consoles it's impossible for a game to look as good as Rage is supposed to. Luckily, these pop-ins aren't too bad in set areas like bandit hide-outs. You'll also be too engaged with the flawless game play to care too much about the pop-ins. Outside of obvious terrain texture errors, everything else in the game looks flawless. The gun models are great, the armor is great, and no two people in towns look alike. Once again, the effort put into Rage shows. Despite the massive pop-ins.. -8.5/10

S- If you know my opinions on most games, you know that I'm a sucker for great sound design. Rage has exactly that. Every gun has a unique punch to the sound it makes. The shot gun especially. Every noise in this game feels like it had a shit ton of thought behind it. Even the different ammo types have their own unique sounds. The gory sounds of enemies exploding are also a great typical touch of Id. The sound design is perfect and exactly on par with the equally great graphics.  -10/10

Verdict : 9.5/10
Despite this game's obvious short comings, it's a god damned classic. It's gameplay is PERFECT and that's what really matters with a game. The ending is a bit disappointing and it fizzles, but the amounts of replay-ability and the promise of future DLC solve that shit. You can tell that Id fine tuned this game to be as fun as it possibly can. If you're turned off by the texture pop-ins to the point of passing this up completely.. Go fuck yourself. Seriously. Do it. This game has everything an fps fan would want. If this is an indication of what the next generation of gaming will be like (it is) than we should be really excited starting now. Id has done it again. And I'm sure Doom4 will be even more impressive.

Next up :

God damn right. It's time for classic reviews.
