Technical Demonstration of the Day : Max Payne 3
I have seen so little of this game and am completely in love with it. Max Payne 2 is my all time favorite game. It's got memorable characters, an awesome soundtrack, and what was at the time amazing graphics. Not only that, it's pc-mod community is still pretty strong. Max Payne 3 looks to be every bit amazing that Max Payne 2 was and is. Rockstar just recently released this video :
This game looks to have THE best action gameplay over any action game out right now. I cannot wait.

Unexpected Kombat?!
So just recently on Twitter, Ed Boon said to be on the look out for a "surprise from Netherrealm studio" .
He later rephrased his tweet by saying it will be an "unexpected surprise" . I have NO idea what this could be. They said there'd be no dlc for MK9 and no more HD Mortal Kombat re-makes. This is a complete mystery to me (as is usual with upcoming Mortal Kombat games). However.. With the VGAs coming up this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if this "unexpected surprise" makes an appearance..
Confirmation of the day : Metal Gear Solid 5?!
That's right! Not much information is known at the time, but in the upcoming issue of The Official Playstation Magazine, Hideo Kojima reveals a few details and plans about the project. The issue will be in stores November 29.

Review of the Every Other Week - Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3
So this is a game I never thought I'd be reviewing.. After Black Ops, I was completely against Call of Duty as a franchise. I was completely against their yearly releases that seemed like nothing other than cash ins. They lacked quality. The graphics were sub-par compared to other shooters and the sound design was for the most part... Awful. The multi-player game play was fun sometimes. But it was plagued by the community that played it. Full of sore-losers and campers, little kids, and adults who only knew foul language (not to say I don't enjoy a curse word now and then, but these people take it to the extreme.). Not only that, but I play ps3 and from what I've seen, we get the much inferior version. The graphics are blurry as shit, and we have to wait a whole 30 god damn days to buy their over-priced map packs(No, I never bought one.). Needless to say, I had all but given up on the Call of Duty franchise and was ready to leave it at Call of Duty 2 and try and forget the rest.
My face while watching the Modern Warfare 3 reveal trailer
That is until a couple of weeks ago. My girlfriend and I were sitting doing not much of anything when she reminded me how much I missed online multiplayer fps. I hadn't played one in months after I sold Modern Warfare 2. Battlefield 3 was already out and I certainly didn't have enough for it. So I went in to my local Gamestop and pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3. I instantly regretted it. The night of November 7th at the midnight release I was ready for disappointment. I was wrong. Very very wrong.
A- Atmosphere
G- Gameplay
G- Graphics
S- Sound
A- You by now know the typical war atmosphere. Modern Warfare 3 does it only slightly differently than most. The war is set in (you all know this by now) the United States. Well.. mostly. You travel all over to many different war- ravaged places. But most of the action takes place here in the US. It's a really played out story but is well done none the less. The streets are well designed and characters are interesting enough. The guns and gadgets are the real stars of the show though. And they went with some really interesting choices. Not only that... But.. Now this is my favorite part.. THEY FIXED THE SOUNDS! Oh my god! It actually sounds really really good now! The guns boom with a ferocity like they haven't since CoD2. You can feel the power in your guns and your opponents guns. The buildings falling near by and the dust settling all have their own unique sounds. Hell, you can hear flies from time to time too. The whole political turmoil thing is over done and that's what kind of kills this. But I mean, they're closing the chapter. So they did what they had to do. And they did it better than before. -7/10
G- Gameplay is the typical Call of Duty affair. The missions are full of waves of enemies that you have to work through. The stealth missions are among the best. The last level however.. Is by far the most memerable in a Call of Duty game thus far. It sends the series out in the best way possible and leaves you with quite the adrenaline rush. The multi-player is better than the previous entries as well. Which is not something I expected. With the addition of the Support "Strike package" (killstreak rewards) more of an emphasis is put on helping your team. At first I didn't think many people would go for this package, but the points remaining even after you die and respawn was a major drawing point for players. Which leads to more people calling up UAVs, SAMs, and generally... Y'know, being a team player. Which is something that has been decidedly missing from almost all CoD multiplayer components. Kill Confirmed is also a great addition. The fact that you HAVE to pick up the opposing teams dogtags when you kill them to score points means that it's much harder to effectively camp. All in all, not too many things have changed in regards to multi-player gameplay. Just enough to keep it fresh. I cannot blame them for sticking to the same formula, especially when it works out so well for them. Anyhow, they've tinkered with the engine to the point where it's better than the previous entries. The multi-player is fun, and the campaign is memorable. Also the game is more than different enough to not be able to call it " more of the same" as many have -8.5/10
G- Since Modern Warfare 1 Playstation 3 has gotten the shittier end of the graphics spectrum. In my opinion it was always blurrier, textures weren't as clean, gun models looked lame. They changed that bit around now. The game looks crisp and clear, and the gun models look wonderful. Yeah, it's no Battlefield 3 or Crysis in the graphics department, but it looks decent and runs smoothly. It's nice to see them put more effort into their ps3 port this time around. -8/10
S- This is the department I was expecting the least from. And the part that blew me away completely. The sound design in the Modern Warfare series has been mostly horrible.. Some of the guns sound like lawn sprinklers or snare drums. They completely turned that around this time. Where the guns used to sound like rice crispies crackling, now they sound satisfying and strong! Explosions are loud and satisfying. They did a complete turn around in this department and I'm more than impressed with it. Not only are the guns and explosions better, but they even added plenty of ambient noises, running water, flies. You can tell that they put plenty of effort into the sound this time around. -9/10
The Verdict - 8.5/10
Modern Warfare is a great value. If you've enjoyed any of the other Call of Duty titles, you're sure to enjoy this. It's frantic and fun. If you're more about well thought out tactical shooters.. It may not be for you. But all in all, Call of Duty is a surprisingly great game. The multi player is exciting and surprisingly balanced, and the single player campaign is satisfying and memorable. Not to mention the co-op components which makes this a great game to play with friends. This is the apex of the Call of Duty series if you ask me. What's a shame however, is that many of the previous fans have been turned away because they feel like they're being ripped off by a "yearly glorified map-pack". It's honestly much more than that.

Screenshots of the Day : Max Payne 3
So I'm kind of behind on this, but better late than never. Rockstar released more screen shots of the upcoming and more than likely to be masterpiece, Max Payne 3
I wish there were more.. Max Payne 2 was a huge success and I've been a huge fan of the series, this will no doubt be the biggest entry. Rockstar looks to have all of their shit together when it comes to picking up where Remedy left off.
Max Payne 3 releases on Xbox 360, Ps3, and PC March 2012. Right on time for my birthday ;D
Armed Robbery of the Day
So a bunch of people must have caught wind about that copy of Modern Warfare 3 that sold for 1000 dollars this past week... Because just about 6000 copies were just stolen from a truck this saturday. Apparently the culprits smashed their car into the truck and continued to use tear gas and knives to subdue the driver. I have to ask... What the hell do they plan to do with the copies? It drops in a few hours... What the fuck? A giant LAN party is the only thing that seems plausible. Anyways, I'll be at a midnight launch in a few hours and will be back in a week or so for a review for you.
In case you DIDN'T know, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 drops tonight at midnight.
Game Preview of the Day : Hitman Absolution
Yeah, I know.. Modern Warfare 3 is coming out tonight, but try and channel some of your excitement towards this beauty :
This is a great start on the next gen systems for Hitman. It looks beautiful and original. Now... If only they could get Timothy Olyphant to do the in-game Agent 47..
Anyways, Hitman Absolution releases for Xbox360, Playstation 3 and PC ... Sometime in 2012. They haven't confirmed yet.

Game Preview of the Day : Asura's Wrath
So this is a game I've not been hearing too much about. Which is really a shame considering how good it looks. You play as Asura. He was a once much revered deity until his fellow gods decided it'd be a good idea to strip him of all of his powers and hold his daughter captive while usurping her powers. Well, naturally this pisses Asura off and the game revolves around him being pissed and using that to take out the gods who wronged him.
Wow. This game has hands down the most ridiculous fights in it. Definitely expecting some God of War comparisons here. But in my opinion that's not a bad thing.
You can make people UNDERSTAND WITH YOUR FIST February 21 with ps3 and xbox360
Ign Naomi Kyle creepers of the Day
They keep on creepin' So I keep on screenshot-ing.
This batch taken from IGN Daily Fix 11/4/11
What the fuck is that supposed to mean? She can kick you in the balls with her hands anytime?
You'd be that desperate for human contact, huh?
Yeah. Hearing a girl say "balls" is totally hot, dude.
Oh.. Wait?! Is Imoan Naomi backwards!? OH MY GOD YOU'RE SO CLEVER!
As always.. The best for last :
DAAAAAMN! Lady killer in the house. Look out. I wonder how much pussy he's pulled with that line.. Probably tons.
Just a little side note here.. In that Daily Fix they mentioned someone who payed over 1000 dollars for a copy of Modern Warfare 3. Really? Dude... The game drops in like 3 days and you're spending that much money on it? Not to mention... According to Activision playing it early may "impact your account". Have fun with that.
Ad Campaign of the Day : Tim and Eric/ Saints Row
This is definitely one of the weirdest ad-campaigns I've ever seen for a game. The people at Saint's Row have contracted the duo Tim and Eric to direct a couple of commercials for them.
I'm gonna go ahead and use my typical reaction for Tim and Eric videos here : What the fuck? In all seriousness though, it's nice seeing a video game developer not taking their game too seriously.
You'll be able to say "Oui Oui I'm sexy playing Saints Row" November 15 when it releases for PC, 360 and Ps3

Indie Game! : Mortal Kombat HD Remix
Some of you may remember the rumored Mortal Kombat HD Kollection from last year. All of a sudden, all of these retailers posted a picture of the boxart along with scattered release dates. It was an exciting thought having Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and UMK3 being re-made with new digitized actors in HD. It wasn't until a few months ago that we found out that the whole thing had been cancelled(follow the link for screen shots of the cancelled product.) and all of our speculation had been pretty much in vain..
As a life-time Mortal Kombat fan, it was kinda devastating hearing that the whole thing had been cancelled. However.. A group of people from my favorite Mortal Kombat forum, TRMK, took it as more of a challenge. For the last 2 months they have been diligently working together to bring us the fabled 'kollection'. I have to say, their work is incredible :

Original shown on right side for comparisonz.
These guys work together so well too. Every bit of work they do is criticized and criticized to the point where there is absolutely no way it could be anything less than 100 percent perfect. I've been beyond impressed at everything I've seen so far. This work is only for Mortal Kombat 1 as well, I'm excited to see what Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 will bring :
Click it, it's a GIF
Now, as for the engine of the game, they'll be using MUGEN. Mugen is a basic fighting engine for people who want to make ridiculous fighting games with any character from any game ever. Users download or create all of the menus and characters in the game. So that part of the game is already done with. That doesn't mean that there still isn't tons of work to be done. They still have to make hit-boxes and all that other technical shit. Oh yeah, and the fact that it's on MUGEN and using the MK name and characters means that it will be completely free. They've been tenacious so far in their quest for the perfect HD Kollection and I'm beyond excited to see what the final product looks like..
Mock up of what the final product will look like.. Yes, those are the actual models that someone made on a computer, not pictures taken out of a magazine of real people. A guy who goes by the name of Bleed designed those. Amazing...
Best of luck to you all. You've gotten this far, DO NOT GIVE UP!
You can always check up on the status of this game by visiting TRMK and looking at it's respective topic. Here's a link. All of the above artwork is not owned by me and is property of the wonderful users of TRMK who designed them.
Review of the Every Other Week - Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas
So I figured with the reveal of Grand Theft Auto V I'd make this review. By the way, if you don't remember, I totally fucking called that it'd be in San Andreas, DID I NOT!? Yeah anyhow... I've been playing the shit out of San Andreas recently and I have to say that it's easily one of the top ten best games ever made. This is the apex of the Grand Theft Auto series so far. It has everything. And the pc edition still has tons of mods that no one knows about. You could play this game for years. And honestly, I have been.
A- Atmosphere
G- Gameplay
G- Graphics
S- Sound
A- As I'm sure you all know, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is set in the 90's in a fictional mock up of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. This game does atmosphere insanely well. From the smoggy look of LA , to the sound track, to the cars, even the current events (Berlin wall coming down). Everything in this game reeks of the 90's. Not only that, this game is fun, plain and simple. The characters are colorful, memorable, and funny. You play as CJ. He's returning to the city of Los Santos to attend his mother's funeral. Upon arrival you're greeted by a corrupt cop named Tenpenney(voiced by Samuel Jackson) and his goons. They leave you in Ballas(your rival gang)territory and you have to ride a stolen bicycle home. It only gets more colorful from here on out. CJ goes on a quest to strengthen his gang and his ties with his family and homies. All of the characters you meet along the way are hilarious and perfectly voiced. -10/10
Carl Johnson looking deceptively intimidating..
G- There is tons of stuff to do in San Andreas. There's an insane amount of missions and side missions and a whole bunch of places to spend your hard earned cash at. This game has everything. You can buff up your character or make him unnecessarily fat. You can put Nos and a bass system in your car or pimp out a low-rider with hydraulics. They also implemented a few rpg like features in this entry, like the ability to upgrade your driving skill and motorbike and regular bike skills making it harder for you to fall off of your bike or easier to powerslide corners. One of my favorite features is the ability to upgrade your skill with guns. The more you use a certain gun the better you'll get at using it. Once you reach "hitman" level with it you get a special talent with it. Usually it has to do with dual wielding. Either way, the weapon features are all nice. Now, I was playing this with a keyboard and mouse, so I cannot attest to the console controls, but the shooting in this game is actually pretty fun. It's easy enough to hit your targets and with a game this gigantic and detailed, that's all that really matters. I cannot fathom actually getting a 100 percent completion rating in this game. I've been playing since 2004 spanning multiple consoles and I always come back to re-visit it every year or so. And with the pc mods that are available, I doubt I'll ever not come back to it. -10/10
Yep, a Solid Snake skin for Cj. Courtesy of a man named : Beeswax. Can be found here.
G- Now you may think that this may be the only part where the game as a whole suffers. But in my honest opinion it doesn't. Sure the graphics by now are dated, but for it's time it was really good. The world is huge AND detailed. I've only just recently went around and appreciated all of the different areas of the game. It has everything. Deserts, country sides, giant cities. All detailed. I love how huge this game is and how diverse the whole place is. The car models are just as pretty. Shining in the light and able to be customized. Not only that, but it has motion blur. May sound like a given now, but this was a feature I was pretty psyched about upon it's release. Not many games had it. I cannot emphasize enough that this game has everything. -10/10
S- This game's soundtrack is incredible. All of the stations perfectly reflect the time of their respective genres of music. Everything from Alice in Chains to Snoop Dogg is properly here. There's tons of tracks to listen to, each bearing their own forms of nostalgia. It's amazing that I don't find myself getting annoyed with these songs, but with so much to listen to it's hard to. The talk stations are among my favorites. They're a perfect parody of stations like KFI(which is the only thing I listen to on the radio). Aside from the radio stations there's amazing voice actors. There's some really great voice acting along with the gigantically cheesy ones that sound like they were recorded over the phone. But they all fit together very nicely. -10/10
The Verdict -10/10
This is a perfect example of the perfect game. It has perfect atmosphere, good graphics, and enough gameplay to keep you coming back for years. I have and will continue to do so. I'm gonna be straight with you right now.. I didn't really like Grand Theft Auto IV. It just felt too serious to me. It lost the charm that San Andreas and all of the previous entries had. The silly nature of the game and the parody just felt lacking. Grand Theft Auto V looks to have brought the locale back in all of it's glory, I just really really hope that the silly attitude returns. And if it doesn't.. There's always Saints Row The Third.
Just in case you missed the GTA:V trailer
Coming up :
Activision's Dick Move of the Day
So.. As some of you may remember.. I'm not the biggest Modern Warfare fan. But I decided to put aside my prejudice and pre-order Modern Warfare 3. Plenty of people will be playing, and it's not a half bad game to drink and play with some friends.
Now, some game retailers have had trouble with street release dates. Usually that isn't too much a problem. As it shouldn't be seeing as how it's the retailer/ distributors fault for either not correctly labeling the packaging or not caring to notice. However... Activision apparently sees this as an issue.
At first it didn't seem that way to Xbox LIVE Director of Policy and Enforcement, Stephen Toulouse(click to see his twitter and posts that I mention below). He tweeted the following "For those asking about MW3 pre-release play: If your copy is legit and obtained legitly, have fun. It's a great game". Makes sense, eh? I guess Activision caught word of this and thought otherwise. Not too long after he tweeted this : "clarification: dblchk'd with Activision. Mw3 pre-release play not authorized, So pls be patient. Playing early may impact your account!". May impact my account? The fuck? How would it possibly be detrimental to their sales or impact THEM in any way if I played a few god damn days early? That's a huge fucking slap in the face to their customers. Oh well, it's not like you'd have to wait too long now anyways, Modern Warfare 3 drops this tuesday November 8.
