Announcement of the Day : Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda announced today that they're making an Elder Scrolls MMO. This has been a huge fan request since Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. There's going to be coverage of it in next month's issue of Game Informer, which will look like this :

So look for that on newsstands in the next few weeks. I'm not one for fully single player experiences being converted into multi-player, but if one world can do it well, it'll definitely be The Elder Scrolls. Not you Fallout. Fallout had better stay a single player experience. What's the point of 'roaming the wastes' if thousands of people are doing it with you?! How could it be a wasteland.. yet lively?! But I digress.. Elder Scrolls Online will undoubtedly be really cool. Here's a quote from Bethesda about it :

"The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

“It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years,” said game director and MMO veteran Matt Firor, whose previous work includes Mythic’s well-received Dark Age of Camelot. “The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

Well, they sound committed to delivering a true TES experience. I'm excited to see what they've been developing.

Max Payne 3 Multiplayer Part Two ( and recap)

Another Max Payne 3 multiplayer trailer was released today. Further solidifying the fact that Rockstar clearly knows what they're doing in crafting a multi-player experience for a game that has previously been only single player. I'll include part one if you missed that as well.

(Part 1)

(Part 2)

This looks like it's easily going to be the best shooter of the year. Here's a list of the confirmed modes :

Game Modes :
Team Deathmatch : The typical team based killing affair, only set in Max's world and also with the inclusion of things like bullet time.
Gang Wars : Max Payne 3's flagship mode. Features narrative driven, five round matches. Each round is something different, be it simply a round of Team Deathmatch or defending/capturing a point. The winner of each round is rewarded and retains an upper hand in the next.
Payne Killer : In this mode two players are chosen by first kill (the killer/ victim) to be Max Payne and his partner from the single player story, Raul Passos. Whenever one is killed, their killer assumes their identity. Killing them, however, is not so easy, Max and Raul are loaded with ammo and pain killers.

You can also outfit your character with 'bursts'(similar to killstreak rewards) such as :

Bursts :
Bullet time : Max's signature time slowing move. When activated, you receive increased fire rate, on top of that, everyone in your line of slight is slowed.
Weapons Dealer : Awards the person who activated it with unlimited ammo for a period of time.
Weapons Double Dealer : When activated, the opposing team will drop their grenades fully primed and ready to explode.
Sneaky : Allows you to appear to have joined your opposing team.
Paranoia : When activated, all of your opponents see their teammates as enemies. The third tier of this burst turns on friendly fire as well.

Some of these may sound over powered(mainly paranoia), but you can take precautions against them when customizing your character. There is also a myriad amount of ways you can customize your character out side of weapon and burst loadout, from tattoos, to hair, to clothing. There's also plenty to offer within the actual matches like running with a crew (these crews will carry over to GTA V when it's released) , and Vendettas (when a player kills you two or more times you can activate one, it will track them on the map and you are rewarded with more xp when you kill them.)

A line of DLC has been announced already as well :

June 2012

• Local Justice Map Pack

Summer 2012
• Disorganized Crime Map Pack
• Deathmatch Made In Heaven Mode Pack
• Hostage Negotiation Map Pack
• New York Minute Co-Op Pack

Fall 2012
• Painful Memories Map Pack
• Trickle Down Economics Map Pack

Buying a 'Rockstar Pass' will give you  all of this DLC for $30. With all of this Max Payne is clearly shaping up to be the shooter, if not game, of the year.

Black Ops 2's reception

As many of you may have noticed.. Treyarch revealed their latest iteration of Call of Duty. The much anticipated Black Ops II. If in the case you do not know anything about it let me show you their trailer:

Now, I'm not here to talk about the reveal itself or to stir up hype about it.. I'm here to discuss the harsh reaction it was given.

Every year a new Call of Duty comes out, and every year the same complaints pour in from complete morons that think that they know a thing or two about game development. Everyone complains 'do something different' 'they always release the same crap'. Blah blah blah. Now, a lot of you that read this know me.. I'm not entirely cool with the Call of Duty series either. But I can completely understand why someone may be and I can definitely understand how much work goes into creating one of these games. Anyone who complains about always getting the same game and then at the same time complains about this newest iteration is an idiot.

"GIANT WALKING MECH TECH!? YAWN! MORE OF DA SAME!" -typical gaming genius

I'm kind of upset in the gaming community as a whole for being so ridiculously stupid about this. Treyarch finally does something different by incorporating sci-fi themes and futuristic tech only to be met with absurd criticism. It's disgusting and shows how the gaming community is made up of whiny cry-babies who feel they are entitled to everything. Here's a simple rule.. If you haven't liked any of the Call of Duty games leading up to this, THEN DON'T BUY IT. Don't. It's that easy.

It's amazing how these idiots find it so easy to pass judgement on a game they haven't played yet or seen very much of at all. I'm not saying this is going to be a genre-defining game, or anything revolutionary, but it certainly doesn't look like it's going to be a bad game, and it definitely doesn't look like every other Call of Duty title.

Naomi Kyle creepers of the Day

Ah here we are again! I mean.. Sure there's news of Black Ops 2 and Xbox 360 getting banned in Germany.. But whatever, right!? More of this!

Woahhhh! Look out! The new Shakespeare has arrived! He goes by the name 'Gollumz'

You came to a video to watch a blonde haired, fully clothed, plain looking woman talk? Okay..

This world would be better if people like you weren't in it imo :>

Starts off with an opinion and then.. Whew complete nose dive of intelligence. What could you expect from someone named 'vt3kboi' though? A screen name dedicated to Honda

And this is probably the saddest one of the day. Not because of the text itself, no. But because it was the highest rated comment on the video. Holy shit.. When did we start promoting such ridiculous depravity. At least 18 other people seem to agree with this comment and gave 'mattdekitkat' a virtual pat on the back for it. Nice job Ign subscribers. Keep it coming.

Top Ten List of the Day: Fighting Game Characters

Ah yeah. I'm gonna start doing top 10 lists. Why? Because there honestly isn't much I care to write about today(Black ops 2? Meh.). So,  fighting game characters. They're almost always badass. Obviously there's some hilariously bad fighters purposefully put in games to suck, I'm looking at you Dan from Street Fighter. But this list is about the best. Or at least who I think is the best/most interesting. Obviously, you don't have to agree with me. This is just my personal top 10 list. Here we go.

10 - Ice Climbers (Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl)
Completely adorable couple. Also completely deadly. Popo(the male) and Nana (the female) are as dangerous as they are cute. They can freeze you in place, leaving you entirely vulnerable for any kind of attack they want. Plus they're two separate entities in the game. So your AI controlled Nana can get knocked out while your player controlled Popo can remain to wreak havoc. I've always been partial to characters with control over ice, and these two definitely have that in droves.

9 - Tiger Jackson (Tekken 3/Tekken Tag)
Just look at this guy! He's decked out like he just came from a 70's disco for the sole purpose of kicking your ass with his dance based Capoeira. Tiger features the same moves as Eddy Gordo. So that means he's fast and has a ton of mix ups. Getting anywhere near a skilled Tiger player is almost impossible. Hell, if you're any good at button mashing you can keep all of your un-skilled Tekken playing friends at bay.. Trust me, I've had it done to me plenty of times.

8 - Nemesis (Marvel Vs. Capcom 3)
As if Nemesis wasn't scary enough in Resident Evil 3, Capcom saw it fit to include him in their latest fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Nemesis is huge, almost bigger than most of the characters in the game. He's outfitted with a gigantic rocket launcher that he smashes violently into your face, Nemesis is a scary guy to fight. He also has a completely different form that can be activated by a super move that devours your enemy.

7 - Angus MacGregor (Kasumi Ninja)
If you guessed that Angus was the guy on the right shooting fire out of his kilt, you're correct. Kasumi Ninja is easily one of the worst fighting games to ever be released, but Angus is the diamond in that pile of steaming crap. A diamond that's a stereotypical Scottish man who has the ability to shoot fireballs from his dick. Easily one of the best characters ever.

6 - Fulgore (Killer Instinct)
Like Nemesis, Fulgore is a violent machine meant to do one thing : kill. Created by the masterminds of the Killer Instinct tournament, Ultratech, Fulgore's sole purpose is to prove himself by kicking everyone's ass in the tournament. Fulgore is outfitted with only the best weapons :  razor sharp claws on each arm, a turret gun under his helmet, and laser beams coming out of his damn eyes. He can do upwards to an 80 hit combo. Fulgore is the last character you fight before the game's boss.

5 - Stryker (Mortal Kombat 2011)
I have a soft spot for Stryker. He's my favorite character in Mortal Kombat. With good reason too. He's just a cop, thrown in to a world full of people full of special powers and abilities. Stryker has no special powers, he's just a regular cop who can kick some serious ass with his baton and fists. That's why he's on this list. Upon winning the Mortal Kombat tournament, Stryker says " I was just doing my job" like any true American hero should.

4 - Super Macho Man (Punchout‼)
I think the best way to describe Super Macho Man is as.. A pain in the ass. He's the last person you fight before Mike Tyson and is one of the toughest in an already pretty tough game. Super Macho Man kicked your ass before you even had a chance to get your ass kicked again by Mike Tyson. He had a special movie where he'd spin 360 degrees and punch you in the face. He also had a 3 punch combo that'd knock you out flat.

3 - Nightmare (Soul Calibur )
Nightmare is evil incarnate. Seriously. He's the evil alter-ego of Siegfried, who in Soul Calibur III was made a separate entity entirely. Look at this guy, he wields that gigantic sword with an eyeball in it that looks like a pain in the ass to carry, let alone swing around in a fight. He's also wearing that ridiculously heavy looking armor. Somehow with all of that weight he manages to kick the shit out of everyone in his way. He's one of the largest characters in the series as well as one of the strongest.

2 - Rufus (Street Fighter 4)
Rufus is a huge fat ass. And you know what? That's what puts him up so high on this list. Somehow with all of those disgusting rolls of fat, he manages to be one of the best rush down characters in Street Fighter IV. Despite all of that weight, Rufus still manages to be one of the higher tier characters in a game full of other, much more strong characters.

1 - Kung Lao (Mortal Kombat 2011)
Ah, Kung Lao. The man living under the shadow of the hero and champion Liu Kang. But why? Kung Lao was by far the strongest character in the newest iteration of Mortal Kombat. Even after a number of nerfs, Kung Lao remains near the top of the tiers. Kung Lao is still one of the fastest characters in the game and retains all the tools needed to take on any type of character. In the story mode he fights Noob Saibot, followed by Goro, followed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi at once, finally followed by Kintaro besting them all.. Only to be cheaply snuck up on and killed by Shao Kahn.. I smell the return of a vengeful ghost. Or at least someone better step into his shoes for the next MK, we need more Wing Chun masters like Kung Lao. As hated as he may be within the online community, there's no denying that Kung Lao is the best fighter in the series.
