Classic Game of the Day : Gain Ground

Today's specimen is : Gain Ground

Clearly, THE quintessential bad ass 90's leaflet.

On the surface, this game's gameplay may not look like much. You play as 1 of many characters (you start with 3 and pick up more, as prisoners, along the way) and each has 2 modes of firing. One hit and YOU die. Your enemies on the other hand can be pretty tough bad asses. This makes it a necessity to know the maps and devise a good strategy for getting to the other side of it. Now after all of the time I've spent playing this game, I still cannot for the life of me tell what fucking time period it's in. There's knights, civil war warriors, and fucking futuristic mechs. It really is an awesome combination. If we kept the same gameplay and added HD graphics it'd be fucking awesome as an XBLA or PSN downloadable title.

Like I said.. It might not look like much, but you go ahead and try that.

If you're looking for a fun 2 player Sega strategy game : Gain Ground is it.

Game Preview of the Day : Hitman Absolution

Now, I'm going to be completely honest; I never really played a Hitman game. Horrible, I know. But this new one I will surely try to go out of my way to play. Hitman Absolution. If you're a fan of the stealth genre of games, or just games akin to Metal Gear, or Splinter Cell you should give this a try.

I'm willing to bet that barcodes are gonna come back in a big way after this.

The gameplay looks very similar to Deus Ex in the best way possible. I can't wait to try it out. I couldn't find any info on a release date, but I'm gonna guess it'll be available some time early in 2012.
